Gerod is
a professional full-time live/studio musician and instructor who can
easily play and adapt to all styles of music.
He was
born in Victoria B.C in 1984. He began his musical career at the ripe
age of ten and had formed his first band by age eleven. Staaf's parents, Gerry and
April, bought him a used Hohner electric guitar with a small Fender amp
on his 11th birthday. He never looked back. By the age of
fourteen Gerod had already composed and recorded his first full length
C.D. with his band Throat.
Gerod had
played numerous live performances by this time with his own bands and
on other projects. In 1997 he was asked to play in Hawaii as a guest
artist for Van Halen's opening act Sunburn, at Hawaii's largest rock
venue. He also appeared for two weekends at Honolulu's premier blues
club.
After a
stint with B.B. King's bassist Russell Jackson in Calgary, he and his
family moved to Vancouver B.C. where Gerod recorded classical guitar
to be used in soundtracks for plays.
He played
in both Whistler B.C. and Vancouver B.C., several times with Sudden Death
recording artists Dog Eat Dogma, and just recently played with
blues/classic rock band Syndicate on a four and a half month contract
featuring several performances with blues/rock legend Gaye Delorme.
Throughout
Gerod's dynamic career his talent, aesthetics, diversity, adaptability,
stage presence and uniquely compatible disposition have made him well
known locally, and in Victoria, Hawaii, Seattle and Calgary.
